This demonstrative adjective is followed by a modifying ligature, an and a word or phrase it modifies. Phrases, of which this demonstrative adjective is a constituent, occur as follows: 1) A genitive phrase, occurring either as a verb phrase constituent or as a possessive substantive phrase (with a genitive ligature, -n, suffixed to a preceding word ending in a vowel).

4) This demonstrative adjective, may be optionally pluralized by the plural determiner da, preceded by a personal referent determiner ay4: ete, ay date, ay tugwoy. (-n an enclitic variant of ay is suffixed to a preceding word ending in a vowel: -n te -n date, -n tugwoy, -n datugwoy.) These constructions are constituents of a phrase occurring as a referent.
