It is like the ‘shine’ of a flashlight on the road at night. It is said to have long fingernails. If ‘hit’ by it one would reportedly get a stomach ache, a cough or feel weak. It is a trick that a demon plays. One has to have special knowledge in order to pass by it without being hit.
A timbalun-spirit scratched me last night.
A certain kind of charm (tawal) recited in order to cure some kinds of cough or diarrhea.
The sickness is reportedly caused by a spirit called timbalun. The treatment consists of soot that has had incantations said over it. It is rubbed from the breastbone towards the neck for a cough and from the breastbone towards the stomach for diarrhea.
