The pa- and -an affixes for focusing on the object being let out can be used interchangeably.
Pag lay ja' tininduk tali ku, lay do' duhu' tugutan ku labbasakayi.
When the fish struck my line, I first let out all of it.
Ya' bay pinatugut me' ku labbasakayi tali ku tawu ku bakkat.
I didn't let out all of my line because i was afraid it would break.

When the person being allowed is focused, either no affix or -an suffix can be used but -an seems more common.
