Subanen. Naa kiin mulapuy, kaas iini piningalan nami dun, pu' duun daw dengantui gembata' sinugu' nu nga mekegulangen mangay gapuy, laak mpauk gupia. Muka' kebaalen megbelibad pu' mpauk, luminayug, binaluy manukmanuk. Kaas ki mulapuy, sa' mektalu', iini telu'enen, “Mpauku, mpauku.”
English. As for the pitta bird, the reason we call it mulapuy is because it is said that long ago, a child was told by his parents to go and get fire, but he objected strongly. And because
he refused, because he didn't feel like going, he flew up in the air, for he was turned into a bird. And so when the mulapuy bird calls, it says, “I won"t, I won"t!”
