‘magic’ to stop bleeding.
To stop a wound from bleeding, the following ritual is observed: The person trying to stop the bleeding puts his thumb in
his mouth, touches the roof of his mouth and then puts his thumb on the wound and says a secret charm tawal . Either a man
or woman may minister to either sex, but if a woman is wounded, other men with the exception of her husband are not allowed
to see her wound for fear it will cause a hemorrhage. Conversely, if a man is wounded, women other than his wife are not allowed
to see his wound for the same reason.
Charm his head wound, and [it] will soon stop [bleeding].
