jikil
A type of singing from the book of Mawulud.
It is done with a low (soft) voice and many “frills”, i.e. a long drawn out tune. Reading and singing are done alternately by the same person(s). It can be done by one or two people. Hairuman, ulidal, bisahri, mammis, are the first words of some of the chapters that are always jinikil i.e. sung with a low voice.
When you sing the mawulud sing only with a low voice.
