If papaya are way overripe, people don't want to eat them because their squashiness is excessive.

Softly wet (as porridge, cake batter, milkshakes); squashy or mushy (as overripe fruit).

I don't like to eat mushy rice.

To become mushy, squashy or softly wet; to cause s.t. to be softly wet.

The pa--an imp. is used when you are making s.t. that is already softly wet even more wet.

That rice will become mushy if you add water to it again.
