A diviner (mang-) divines the cause of sickness in someone (-an) with vapor from vinegar poured onto the hot charred remains of special ingredients.

The diviner pours soka 'vinegar' over the charred ingredients and forms a figure of an animal causing the sickness. It is then crushed and the diviner uses it to rub the sign of a cross on the wrist, navel, and side of the head to ward off sickness.
