A diviner (mang-) divines the cause of sickness in someone (-an) with vapor from vinegar poured onto the hot charred remains of special ingredients.
ingredients used by a diviner: kayo dilamar 'coral', olong no nwang 'scraping of water buffalo horn', nyepen no kasikas 'tooth of a sea turtle', boboh no manok 'feather of a chicken', abotag 'bark of the abotag tree', nyepen no panyichi 'tooth of a bat', dadin 'wood from the dadin tree'. The diviner pours soka 'vinegar' over the charred ingredients and forms a figure of an animal causing the sickness. It is then crushed and the diviner uses it to rub the sign of a cross on the wrist, navel, and side of the head to ward off sickness.
