A feather blessing of someone or something.
A person's feather blessing is a blessing that person pronounces upon his or her offspring with the use of a feather.
Hi mā'et di yabyab Habbēleng ti nidadāan.
Habbēleng's feather blessing (for his offspring) will be tomorrow because (that needed for the blessing) is prepared.
A possessive relationship involving objects indicates the blessing of the object; see Feather Blessing of Objects below.
A feather blessing involves the use of a blessing aid, hinangānga, of feathers or leaves and feathers dipped in the blood of a sacrificed animal or chicken and held by one pronouncing a blessing to make it more effective. An elderly person about to die, during a major blessing ritual, pāhang, for him or her, takes a blessing aid and pronounces a feather blessing on his or her offspring, also called a final benediction; see adāog 4 for description. Various objects, as listed below, are blessed with the use of feathers dipped in blood.
