adāogna
Healthy.
Adāogna nan nihābal ad ugwan an tawon ti pinumhod an agguy inan di do''o.
The crops are healthy this year because they became robust and were not eaten by rats.
Commonly used as a wish for the restoration to health of someone or something, as a sick person, domestic animal or poor crop; also a formula for continued health or prosperity.
Hiddum: Akkay mundogōha' ti mah'āwa'. Aligūyun: Adāogna!
Hiddum: Perhaps I will be sick because I am cold. Aligūyun: (May you be) healthy!
For a person, animal or chicken (actor -um- & patient) to become healthy; i.e., to recover from a sickness, dogoh.
2
For a supernatural being, an animal or chicken sacrifice, mibā'i; medicine, agah; herbs, holo', (actor umipa- & inst) to cause a sickness (theme ipi-) to be removed.
Nahamad nan āgah ti umipa'adāog hinan malgom an dogoh.
Medicine is good because it removes any sickness.
3
For an elderly sick person (agent) to bless his or her offspring (loc ref i-) with a final benediction (theme) during a major blessing ritual, pāhang, held for the sick person.
This is a feather blessing, yabyab2 1a. The ritual begins inside the sick person's house where various ritual prayers are recited. Sacrificial chickens and animals are killed and cut into large pieces. A blessing aid, hinangānga, is prepared by taking a hangānga plant, hangānga 1, including the root and inflorescence along with two wing feathers of a sacrificed chicken and smearing them with blood of the sacrificed animals. The sick person holds the blessing aid and blesses his or her children and grandchildren with words such as the following:
Ūus! Adāogna! Ya pumhod ayun amin an a'apu' ya imbabaluy'u, ta matāgu ayu ya malmuy manu'yu ya bābuyyu ya ihābalyu, ta adi onon di do''o ya dumo'ol di holagyu.
Ūus! May it be well! May it become good for all of you my grandchildren and children, so that you will live and your chickens, your pigs and your crops will multiply and the rats won't eat them, and may your offspring become many.
