Stone retaining wall, used to hold soil and rocks, as in the construction of a pond-field or homesite terraced wall, laba, walling of a pit trap, bītu, trench blockade, lotang, a wall above or below a trail.
A stone retaining wall of a terrace belongs to the owner of the level surface immediately above it and it is his responsibility to keep it in repair, especially if it slides. It is the responsibility of the owner of the level surface immediately below a wall, however, to weed that wall. The owner of an isolated or uppermost terrace on a slope owns and maintains the wall both above and below the level surface.
