One's fraternal relative; i.e., a brother, sister, cousin.

Reference includes from first to fourth cousin, or fifth cousin if referents are poor. Beyond this, the fraternal relationship is exceeded, tālay. The spouse of one's fraternal relative is informally recognized as one's fraternal relative only for the purpose of demonstrating one's affection for him or her. For a discussion of some important reasons for recognizing a kin relationship from third to fifth cousin, see agi.
For someone (theme mi-, mi'i-) to be related to someone else (loc ref) through a somewhat distant consanguinal relationship or through an affinal relationship.
