A widower's formal mourning name, used during the formal mourning period following the death of his wife.
The fact that he is observing this one year period is indicated by the clothing and rattan bands, bālu, that he wears, the fact that he may not bathe, except for hands, feet and face, and the fact that he may not shout, laugh loudly or climb trees.
