The doer can be animate or inanimate. The prefix ngan- is a manifestation of the morphophoneme prefix N- , which is prefixed to stems that begin with d or j . See the verbal affix section of the "Grammar Notes".

Here, ngan- plus verb, is preceded by the agentive marker, eh , or by eh plus either a clitic pronoun or a noun. [Agentive is marked by the grammar notation eh, ni- .] When ngan- appears in the agentive it indicates past action.
