kalihihan
‘trait’ to wish to be affected by an attribute of someone; to try to receive a trait.
The expected stem, lihi , does not seem to be used for this word. However, there is an entry lihi , but its meaning does not seem to be related to this entry. For this entry, a pregnant woman often wishes that her unborn child will have an attribute of someone. She will say the example below in hopes that a transfer will occur. She may also pinch the one whose attribute she desires for her baby to further insure the transfer of the attribute.
Kalihihan na pin anak ku eh poteh nu.
May my child now be receiving [whiteness] by your whiteness.
May my child now receive your trait of white skin.
