kula'ing
Jaws’ harp (often called a Jews’ harp).
It is a musical instrument usually made of tepikan a kind of palm wood. It consists of a thin piece about 20 cm long and approx. 1 cm wide. At one end a thin tongue has been carved out. The wood is placed across the player’s mouth and the wooden tongue is made to vibrate by plucking with the finger. The player creates a melody by changing the size of his mouth cavity. People sing or talk on it. In old times it was used for courting. Only people very close to the one playing can understand what is being said.
Papu'kun ta'u magpahelling kula'ing.
