If an oath is involved in a promise, the word janji' has to be used.

If people swear that means they have made a covenant (lit. covenanted).
That person promised that he would not steal again.
pagjanji'an
A covenant, promise, contract.
Iye hadja subey tuhutte pagjanji'ante tagna'in.
That is what we should follow, our first promise (what we first promised).
Pagjanji'an kamihin bang ubus luma'kun hinangne urunganku iye tellu ngibu.
