The bark shell of an alīnaw tree is used for making fiber, see alīnaw. The shell from a bāhug tree is used for walling or a sleeping mat. The outer layer of a banana stalk, bālat, is used for a temporary water spout, hāyug, tu'lab, or is cut into about 30 cm. lengths and used as dishes for feeding large numbers of people.
