A stringed percussion instrument, made from a piece of bamboo, the length of which is the distance between two joints, about « m., and on which two strings are fashioned by cutting them out from the bamboo, leaving them joined at the ends. Small fret sticks are placed under each end to raise and tighten the strings to obtain the proper pitch. The lead instrument, tabob 1a, is sometimes longer than the one or two accompanying instruments, hebat 1a.
