A very small, black, honey bee.
This variety builds their hive in the crotch of a tree among parasitic vegetation growing there. It is round, about 20 cm. in diameter. Wax from the hive, longah, is used as a crack sealant.

Cooked sweet potatoes, lapnay, are dipped in honey and eaten as a delicacy; it is also used as a topical medicine for chicken pox, balattung.
