For someone (agent muɴ-; s agent maN-) to separate unhulled kernels, ota, (theme) from hulled rice (loc ref -an) with the use of a winnowing basket (inst i-, paN-).
panīgi; manīgi
Separation is accomplished by shaking the winnowing basket, pallungan, back and forth, causing unhulled kernels to move to the outer edges where they can be picked out. This is done especially in winnowing glutinous rice, daya''ot, in preparation for making rice beer, īwa, so the kernels will not be cracked by overpounding. It is also done to commercial rice not well milled.
