Varieties: dongtay is black, about 2‘171’ cm. long, found in pond fields and rarely in rivers; uhīo' is very black, about 3 cm. long, found in rivers and rarely in pond fields; odellah smooth-shelled, light brown, about 2 cm. long, found only in pond fields. Eaten as side dish; shells are used for making lime, āpul.
