The Tausug people, "people of the current", live chiefly in Sulu Province, which is north east of Tawi-Tawi Province. However,
the current unrest in Jolo has caused many Tausugs to relocate throughout the archipelago and beyond. Up to the early part
of this century, Jolo, the chief city of that province, was the seat of the sultanate.
