pa-
1
causative verbal prefix; required; made; caused; allowed; let.
Sometimes causative can signal a change of meaning, the range being greater than the normal "made to" or "caused to" or "allowed to" glosses. Compare billi , "to buy" and pabilli , "to sell". Another example is to compare is sandah adj. "temporary" and its causative forms of the verb pasandah, masandah, nipasandah , etc., "to pawn", "to put up collateral". Note that pa- changes to ma- in actor focus. See the discussion in the "Grammar Notes".
