The doer may be animate or inanimate. This n- 1 prefix is a manifestation of the morphophoneme prefix N- , which replaces the initial letter on stems that begin with s or t . See the discussion of verbs in the "Grammar Notes".

Here, n- plus verb, is preceded by the agentive marker, eh , or by eh plus either a clitic pronoun or a noun. [Agentive construction is marked by the grammar notation eh, ni- .] When n- appears in the agentive construction, it indicates past action. See the discussion on time aspect in the "Grammar Notes".
