This word is adopted from the Arabic Qur'an , Recitation. The Koran is the scripture of the Islamic religion, consisting of sermons given by Islam's founder, Prophet
Muhammad, between about 610 to 630 A.D. These sermons were compiled after Prophet Muhammad's death. At one time there were
four versions of the Koran. Caliph Uthmahn destroyed these, and produced a fifth and official edition in 650 A.D.
