Kaja is the ritual ceremony honoring a dead relative who allegedly possessed power to harm or retribute busung . The ceremony
involves dedicating children to the spirit of the deceased, fixing up the grave shrine tampat , praying to the deceased, feasting,
and offering food to the ancestor. The object of the ceremony, performed yearly, is to appease the ancestor spirit so as to
ward off evil.
