Abu Nawas was a poet of the Abbasid Court in Persia. He died in 815 A.D. Many Samal folktales about Abu Nawas are popular
today. In the stories about him, he is a crafty character who always outwits his competitors. In literature, his name is also
found spelled "Abu Nuwas".
