A type of bush used for medicinal purposes.
The bark or leaf of the bush is heated over a fire, then placed on the forehead and tied in position with a cloth in order to cure a headache. The leaf or bark is also used to cure other pains, including fractures of bones. For rheumatism and gout, the leaves are boiled in water, then the affected part of the body is soaked in the same water. The leaves can also be crushed after heating and rubbed on the part of the body that is in pain. JB 1988.
