pechit
Celebration given by a person in order to share his wealth, when a person becomes rich, and to gain status and power as a community leader.
This is an Ibaloi custom that has been borrowed by the Karaos. A person invites everyone in his village to attend the celebration. People from other villages may also be invited to attend. The host feeds everyone at the celebration. He may also give those from other villages animals to take back with them to butcher when they arrive at their villages. This meat is for those who were not able to attend the celebration.
