bengaw
A type of plant; leaf similar to that of hibicus.
A piece of root of the bengaw plant is sometimes pinned to clothing of children to keep them healthy and to protect them from spirits. Root can also be chewn and rubbed on forehead to cure headache or rubbed on body to cure pains. Also cures coughs. Functions are preventive as well as curative medicine. [J. Pedon 8.2.88/J.
