Buri palm.
Corypha elata
The leaves are used for weaving sleeping mats, mats for drying crops, bags and sometimes hats. The fiber is quite rough. The tree grows up to 20 m high, the trunk is up to 1 m in diameter and has fan-shaped leaves. It flowers only once and the flowering shoot reaches up to 7 m in height like a pyramid. All the leaves dry up beforehand.
Some say silal is a cane-like plant with a stem approx. 1.5 m tall, leaves growing from the ground.
I have some buri palm that I will use to make a mat.
