Sticks in the warp threads (when the traditional striped trouser material is being woven).
They are also used when counting out the pattern in setting up the loom. The sticks used are made of tepikan wood or the midribs of coconut leaflets.
The sticks are not enough for preprogramming (the pattern for) the weaving.
