Andropogon sorghum
A tropical grass. The seeds are used as cereal. The plant is taller than maize, with leaves very much like maize. The ear is in shape like the flower of the coconut, about 35 cm long. The seeds are round and bluish-black, if it is the glutinous kind. The ordinary kind is reddish and a bit smaller than mung beans. After pounding, the kernels are brown. It is cooked as a staple or in a soup inihup or as a sweet. It is planted mixed together with rice. Few people plant it nowadays. They prefer rice.
