kubing
Palm civet. A kind of wild cat.
Paradoxurus philippinensis
It is small, brownish to blackish, has a longish snout. It has a long tail like a cat but longer. People like to keep it as a pet. It likes to perch on a person’s shoulder. The kubing catches chickens but feeds mostly on fruit esp. developing green ones. Children collect the seeds of coffee beans left behind by the kubing. They are easily pounded because the slippery covering is already removed by the digestive tract of the kubing. They nest in densely foliaged trees or bamboo thickets.
Niya' bedju'ku binaning, ulihan teyi' kubing.
I have a yellow blouse; it looks like the waste of a kubing.
(A little song children sing.)
