beyre
Batten, beater (part of weaving loom).
It is used to batten or beat the weft each time a new thread of filling is inserted. It is a piece of hard wood (often palm wood) about 70 cm long, 7 cm wide and 1.5 cm thick tapering to a dull knife-edge along the beating edge. A smaller batten is used as a shed stick which is sometimes used instead of a shed roll. It is tipped on edge to create the shed opening for the bunga sama pattern.

My batten is light (in weight) for beating the weft.
