This is a reddish maroon bitter wild lima bean that can be eaten if properly prepared. It must be cooked several times, then put in a basket in flowing water during the entire night. Man and animals will die within the hour if they are cooked as regular lima beans. Ironically, the wild pigs eat these raw with no problem.
