Meaning of Figure Give us some wine or gin while we are here at this wake.
Usage This is said usually by adult men who are at a wake, as an indirect and somewhat funny way to ask for wine or gin to drink from family of the deceased. (It is part of the hosting family’s responsibility to serve wine or gin during the wake.) This is a way to remind them if they seem to have forgotten.
