A kind of tree with edible fruit similar to a lychee.
Euphoria. The fruit, about golf ball size, generally in clusters, ripens in June and July; has a thin smooth green, fairly soft covering which is separated from a white, translucent, very sweet pulp which surrounds a large seed. The trunk of the tree is straight, reaching 25 meters; the wood is white when still green, but red when dried.

Someone (maN-) picks the fruit from the chayi tree(s).
the growing tips of branches with fruit are chopped and dropped to the ground before picking the fruit since the trees are so tall
