A minor blessing ritual.
Optionally performed before beginning extensive work such as building new pond fields, amhul, new upland fields, uma; before planting wet seedbeds for dry-season rice, patang; before eating new rice after harvest, lo'wab. Rice beer is prepared and this ritual becomes an affair of a small housing cluster, hīgib; neighbors come to drink and eat. Prayers to numerous spirits are recited by ritualists, mumbā'i, at the end of which two or three chickens are sacrificed. The ritual ends with eating the chickens with rice.
