Fear, including fear in the presence of, or in anticipation of danger, apprehension or anxiety in the face of a disturbing circumstance; cowardice, timidity; often accompanied by outward signs of trembling, flushed face, etc.
For someone (actor -um-) to become afraid of someone, something (loc ref -an), as described above, caused by something (inst i-), as scolding, a threat, a frightening event.
