A mudfish pit, in a pond field.
About 1 m. in diameter and 80 cm. deep; covered with tree-fern, tibbang, planking with a hole about 30 cm. in diameter where the fish pass. Constructed in relatively wide fields as a sanctuary for fish, especially when rice is not growing, when a field is drained or being fished. This maintains a constant supply of mudfish not only for the field in which the pit is constructed but for other fields without pits which require restocking from time to time.
