A head-axe hook.
It is fashioned at the top edge opposite the blade pointing backward and curving down. In warfare it was used to hook away enemies' shields, hapīaw. It was used in upland fields for digging, bo''a, uprooting small trees and canes, and to dig stones from cane crowns.
