nānga
A variety of rattan, Palmae Calamus.
The leaves are used to make rain capes, innanga. Strips of the stem are used in tying materials together, as in making a house roof. Identified by its leaves which are closely spaced on the frond stem; young fronds have no thorns; the stem interior is pink.
