Seedbed planting holiday; transplanting holiday.
There are two mahīmah holidays: Mahīmah di patang, Seedbed planting holiday; occurs following the general planting of seedbeds to rice in a given agricultural sub-district. This holiday ends the restriction prohibiting those planting seedbeds from eating edible aquatic invertebrates, gīnga, and vegetables, and from engaging in sexual relations. Mahīmah di bogay, Transplanting holiday; occurs following the general transplanting of rice seedlings in the pond fields of a given agricultural sub-district. This holiday ends the restriction prohibiting those transplanting seedlings from engaging in sexual relations. Both holidays are declared by the leader in rice agriculture, tonong, of the sub-district involved. During that day, pond-field work in the sub-district is suspended. These holidays are declared for the planting of both main-crop or second-crop rice.
