Beeswax, secreted by honey bees, ālig, iyū'an.
Beeswax is melted down and used to wax the warp threads, inobol, in preparation for weaving; see below for description. It is also used in making molds for shaping jewelry, hibug 2. Wax is first fashioned into the shape of a pendant, bulāwon, linglingu. Red clay is then moulded around it and left to dry. It is then put over a fire to melt and remove the wax through a hole in the clay. This then becomes a mold for brass, gold or silver pendants.
