A fish gate for a pond-field spillway, gūheng.
This allows water but not fish to pass through the gate. A fish gate is made of arrow-grass canes, bilāu, or small sticks, āyiw. There are two kinds of fish gates. One has vertical bars across the spillway opening pushed into the bund soil with a horizontal rail tied to each bar. The other has horizontal bars tied to two posts pushed into the soil.
