A sweet potato plant, Ipomoea batatas [Convol.], commonly called sweet potato.
Grown chiefly in upland fields and in dried pond fields. Consists of vines, lāgah 2a, and tubers, lapnay 1b.

About thirty centimeter pieces of the tenderest portion of vine and leaves are used as cuttings. Vines are planted in pairs, about 10 cm. lying in a line. Each pair is spaced about 60 cm. from the next pair in the line. Lines are about one meter apart in good soil; nearer in poorer soil.
