A slave price, paid for the purchase of a slave.
During an earlier period, especially before the arrival of the Spanish government, during a period of extensive warfare among villages, young children, especially, were captured and sold as slaves in distant villages. They were treated almost as part of the family where they worked but without inheritance rights.
