1
A temporary sluicing ditch for transporting soil, gravel and rocks to or from a pond field under construction or repair.
Constructed about 50 cm. wide and 50 cm. deep, a ditch is cut along a hillside or through one or more pond fields. Soil, gravel and rocks are sluiced, budūbud, into a field as fill or topsoil for growing rice, or away from a field to discard it. When sluicing has been completed, pond field walls and beds, through which the ditch passed, are repaired.
